
Massage Therapy Certificate Program
500-Hour Certificate Program
This unique 500-hour certificate program is designed to offer an education in the field of massage, healing, and bodywork with classes focusing on the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Students, who successfully complete the massage therapy program by meeting all graduation requirements, graduate as a certified massage therapist.
Curriculum
Anatomy &
Physiology ~ 125 hours
A comprehensive course in structure and function of the human body,
emphasizing the muscular and skeletal systems, designed specifically for
bodyworkers. Class includes palpation and cadaver lab.
Pathology ~ 40
hours
This course affords the students a basic understanding of the disease
processes of the human body and prepares the therapist to work confidently with
clients facing health issues. Students learn which symptoms may indicate a
need to work in conjunction with other healthcare practitioners to holistically
address the client's dis-ease.
Massage I ~ 72
hours
Students are introduced to the foundations upon which all bodywork is built
including fundamental theories, body mechanics, draping, and techniques of
massage therapy. This course provides students with the knowledge and
skills to perform a basic therapeutic massage.
Massage II ~ 27
hours
Exposes students to more advanced massage techniques including chair
massage, neuromuscular therapy, and sports massage. Prenatal massage is
also introduced at this time to meet the special needs of pregnant women.
Massage III ~ 27
hours
Focuses on techniques for hands-on treatment of specific injuries using soft
tissue release and trigger point therapy.
Energetics &
Complementaries ~ 64 hours
This course offers a valuable selection of complementary hands-on skills
that a professional bodyworker can add to one's practice. Students will
gain a broader understanding of the human body through the introduction of the
human energy field and its effects on the healing process. Complementary
therapies include: Reiki I & II, Raindrop Aromatherapy, Stone Massage, and
an introduction to Reflexology.
Clinical
Internship ~ 100 hours
Prepares students for the responsibilities of a professional massage
therapist. Students have the opportunity to gain valuable experiences and
practice acquired skills by working with clients from the general public.
Students experience working effectively in a professional atmosphere while
continuing to practice and refine their techniques.
Note: clinical internship hours will be held outside of scheduled class time but has been designed to accommodate the student's busy life.
BodyMind
Integrative Techniques ~ 24 hours
This course incorporates the principles of grounding, centering, and
personal integration into the bodywork session. Meditation exercises are
also taught to enhance wellness and stress management for the student's own
personal well-being.
Professional
Development ~ 21 hours
Teaches students the fundamentals of operating a successful practice.
Students learn how to build a clientele and/or secure job placement, develop
marketing strategies and presentation skills, manage taxes, record keeping, and
staying current on laws and regulations.
